Condemning the Immigration Executive Order (EO-2)

WHEREAS, Stonewall Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento – the largest LGBTQ political club in the region – stands united against discrimination, in all forms; and

WHEREAS, President Donald J. Trump seeks to undermine American values by becoming an isolationist country; and

WHEREAS, The Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965 bans discrimination of immigration on the basis of national origin; and

WHEREAS, The travel ban known as EO-2 establishes a 90-day halt on issuance of visas to citizens of six majority-Muslim countries and suspends all refugee admissions for 120 days; and

WHEREAS, EO-2 furthers an agenda of divisiveness in our country; and

WHEREAS, President Trump consistently targets Muslims during his rallies and suggests creating a Muslim registry; and

WHEREAS, Federal judges in Hawaii and Maryland have both found EO-2 to be unconstitutional; and

WHEREAS, the executive order alienates Muslim American citizens and Muslims around the world; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, We urge President Trump to rescind the travel ban and stop the targeted efforts against the Muslim community; and be it further

RESOLVED, We stand united with the communities negatively impacted by this executive order; and be it further

RESOLVED, We support pro-immigration policies.
