Support ACR 99
California Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 99 is a collaborative effort by Assemblymember Evan Low and a group of LGBTQ leaders and Christian pastors to address the practice of conversion therapy in California.
ACR 99 reiterates that the California Legislature has found that being LGBTQ is not a mental illness and that conversion therapy is an unsubstantiated practice which most often causes harm to the subject. ACR 99 calls upon Californians to embrace acceptance and model equitable treatment of all people and calls upon religious leaders to counsel on LGBTQ matters with knowledge of the dangers of conversion therapy.
Sacramento Stonewall has submitted a formal letter of support to the California Legislature and issued a press release announcing Stonewall’s support for ACR 99. Sac Stonewall encourages members and allies of the LGBTQ community to support ACR 99.
There are three ways you can show support for ACR 99:
- Submit a letter of support from your organization OR from yourself (signed and on letterhead is best) by Monday, August 26. (Later submissions are still helpful, but August 26 is the deadline for Senate Judiciary Committee consideration.) Letters can be scanned and emailed to Christopher.Mair@asm.ca.gov, or faxed to (916) 319-2028.
